About The Event
Color Walk is an art history, museum viewing, and visual culture experience centered on color.
In our first session, RED: From Vermilion to Red Soles, we will explore the history, symbolism, and cultural meanings of red, from ancient pigments such as ochre, cinnabar, and vermilion, to red in art history, fashion, branding, and visual culture.
The program begins with a short art history introduction, followed by a guided museum viewing at The Norton Simon Museum. Together, we will look closely at how artists use red to express emotion, identity, power, religion, desire, and visual focus.
This event is designed for adult participants who are interested in art, design, fashion, museums, and cultural conversations. No prior art history background is required.
