Global Museum Lecture Series

The Global Museum Lecture Series is a signature public program of H Foundation, presented through Be An Culture. Launched in 2020, the series was created to connect museums, scholars, and art and culture enthusiasts across geographic boundaries. Through accessible conversations with curators, museum professionals, and researchers, the program brings museum collections, exhibitions, and academic research to audiences beyond the walls of individual institutions.

Over the years, the series has welcomed curators, scholars, and museum professionals from leading institutions around the world, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Museum, the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), among others. Drawing on their areas of expertise, invited speakers introduce audiences to significant collections, current exhibitions, new research, and the broader cultural and historical contexts behind works of art.

The series initially served Chinese-speaking audiences worldwide, making museum knowledge and scholarly perspectives more accessible through lectures presented primarily in Chinese. Since 2024, the program has expanded in both subject and format. Its content now encompasses a broader range of topics related to Asian art, global museum collections, current exhibitions, conservation, curatorial practice, and art historical research. Programming has also gradually developed from primarily Chinese-language presentations to lectures offered in both Chinese and English, allowing the series to engage a wider and more diverse audience.

Each lecture provides an opportunity to learn directly from the people who research, preserve, interpret, and present works of art. By sharing the stories behind collections and exhibitions, the series offers audiences a deeper understanding of how museums contribute to cultural knowledge, historical interpretation, and cross-cultural exchange. All lectures are free and open to the public, and recordings are available through the Be An Culture YouTube channel.

Beginning in 2026, the Global Museum Lecture Series has extended its focus to include university museums and academic collections. These institutions often support highly specialized areas of research and preserve important collections that remain less familiar to the wider public. By bringing their scholarship, exhibitions, and research to broader audiences, the series introduces a greater diversity of artistic traditions, academic disciplines, and approaches to collecting and interpretation.

At its core, the Global Museum Lecture Series reflects H Foundation’s commitment to making museum knowledge more accessible and building meaningful connections between cultural institutions and the communities they serve. As the program continues to grow, it will remain a platform for scholarship, dialogue, and shared discovery across languages, cultures, and institutions.
