魏晋南北朝之前，山水的形象已出现在壁画、地图上，但只是作为人物背景。到了隋唐时期，山水画才真正 成熟。隋代展子虔的名品《游春图》，就是我国存世最早的青绿山水画杰作。此画流传有序，北宋时为内府 所收，上有宋徽宗赵佶亲笔题“展子虔游春图”。后又经历代收藏名家之手，于清代乾隆年间被收入紫禁 城，直至1924年，又随清废帝溥仪远赴东北，散落民间，由北京大收藏家张伯驹以二百四十两黄金购进，并 在1956年与其他数件书画精品一起捐献给故宫博物院。
《游春图》画法古朴、精妙，运笔工细、劲峭，设色绚丽而不失典雅，早期青绿山水名家名作的风范令人拍 案称绝。
展子虔(约公元6世纪)，曾历仕北周、北齐及隋朝，以善画而名重一时。对中国山水画的发展而言，他可谓继往开 来之士，为唐代的山水画开创了新局面，人称“唐画之祖”。
Chinese landscape painting has achieved great success to the Sui and Tang Dynasty. Zhan Ziqian's most famous work, “Spring Outing”, is so far the oldest complete green landscape painting in China. On the painting, there is the Emperor Huizong of Song's inscription, “Spring Outing of Zhan Ziqian”. By the time of the Qianlong Emperor of Qing Dynasty, it was collected by the Forbidden City. However, by 1924, the deposed Emperor Puyi transported the painting to the Northeast and then bought by the famous collector Zhang Boju with more than 240 taels of gold. In 1956, Zhang Boju donated “Spring Outing” and many other precious paintings to the Palace Museum.
“Spring Outing”, with the classic drawing style, fine composition, dedicate drawing intensity, gorgeous and elegant colors, shows us the extremely charm of landscape painting in the early period.
Zhan Ziqian (About 6th Century), was famous for drawing during North Zhou, North Qi and Sui Dynasty. He is considered as the originator of landscape painting in Tang Dynasty, and made great influence to the latter.
